The Ministry of Finance announced this, noting that, in accordance with the Law on the State Budget for 2026, as amended, effective October 1, 2026, the Ministry of Finance will resume the payment of indexed amounts to Banca de Economii depositors born in 1991 or earlier who submitted registration applications by December 31, 2025, as well as to individuals who did not receive indexed amounts in previous years. Indexed amounts can be claimed at any branch or agency of "Poșta Moldovei" (Moldovan Post). To receive the payment, the beneficiary must present a valid form of identification. If a representative or heir is claiming the payment, they must also provide documents confirming the right to receive the indexed amount. In addition, depositors born in 1991 or earlier who have not yet applied for indexation may do so at any branch or agency of "Poșta Moldovei" by presenting a valid form of identification, and savings passbooks for accounts opened before January 1, 1992. The process of paying out indexed amounts was suspended on February 26, 2026, due to the exhaustion of funds allocated for this purpose. To resume payments, the budget appropriations earmarked for the payment of indexed amounts were increased by 8 million lei. The payment of indexed amounts is carried out in accordance with the provisions of current legislation, as well as within the limits of the financial resources provided for in the state budget. According to the Ministry of Finance, in 2023–2025, payments of indexed Banca de Economii deposits to eligible citizens through post offices totaled 11.8 million lei, 9.8 million lei, and 7.3 million lei, respectively. As previously reported by the InfoMarket agency, during the first stage, the indexation of retail deposits is carried out at a ratio of 1 ruble to 1 leu for the first 1,000 rubles across all accounts. The second stage of deposit indexation provides for payments at a ratio of 2.5 rubles to 1 leu for accounts with a balance exceeding 1,000 rubles per depositor. According to Banca de Economii, as of January 2, 1992, a total of 1,988,900 accounts were registered in Moldova, and the total amount of deposits in those accounts was 4,137.3 million rubles.
