According to the BNM, the MIA instant payment system, developed by the National Bank, continues to evolve, introducing new functionality for instant transfers between businesses: Business-to-Business (B2B) via QR code. This new feature allows businesses to make payments from one business to another simply and efficiently, at low cost, by scanning a QR code and authorizing the payment directly within the online banking app. As a result, funds are credited to the account instantly, regardless of the time of day or day of the week, ensuring seamless transactions without delays caused by bank operating hours. MIA B2B transfers, launched this spring, contribute to the modernization of financial services and accelerate the transition to a digital economy. The integration of these new features provides greater flexibility in the business environment, facilitating liquidity management and boosting commercial operations. "The development of the MIA instant payment system accelerates the inflow of capital for entrepreneurs and supports the digitization of financial processes, strengthening its role as a modern payment infrastructure. Thus, Moldova is becoming an increasingly interconnected and inclusive country, capable of implementing modern, secure, and transparent financial solutions tailored to the real needs of people and the business community, which allows it to benefit from faster transactions, simplified processes, and a distinct competitive advantage," emphasized Anca Dragu, President of the National Bank of Moldova. Since the launch of its first features in March 2024, the MIA national instant payment system has been constantly evolving, expanding its services to new user categories and covering an increasing number of situations in everyday life and business operations. Starting with person-to-person transfers initiated simply by using a phone number, the system has evolved to include payments via QR codes, links, and payment requests, as well as payments accepted by merchants (P2B), payments to government agencies (P2G), and instant payments between businesses (B2B). Currently, the system has over 1 million registered unique users who can receive transfers or payment requests via their phone number. In addition, more than 12,000 economic agents are connected to the system, providing the market with over 24,000 payment acceptance points using MIA. // 15.09.2026 — InfoMarket
