The Chișinău City Hall presented a concept for a unified electronic ticketing system for municipal buses and trolleybuses, which provides for fare payment using a transit card (electronic ticket) and, in the future, via bank card, smartphone, and other digital tools. Alternative payment methods will remain available for passengers who do not use banking services or smartphones. The concept was developed by international experts based on European practices and the results of the MOVE IT like Lublin pilot project. As part of the testing phase, the system operated for four months on a single trolleybus route: several vehicles were equipped with 21 validators, as well as devices for ticket sales and fare collection. The testing confirmed the feasibility of implementing the solution in real-world conditions on the capital's public transit system. The next step will be for the Chișinău City Council to review the concept. Once approved, the city administration will prepare procurement documentation, announce an international tender, select a supplier, and begin installing the equipment throughout the municipal transit network. // 02.10.2026 — InfoMarket.
