According to Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban, the municipality is already working on park-and-ride projects and plans to begin implementing them in April. The parking lots will be located at the city's entry points and will be directly connected to public transportation, so that residents of the suburbs and other communities can leave their cars there and continue their journey through the capital using public transportation. The projects include modern bus stops, lighting, green spaces, restrooms, essential services, and other infrastructure. Specifically, on Vadul-lui-Vodă Street in the Ciocana sector, a 500-space parking lot covering approximately 3.4 hectares is planned; on Codrilor Street in the Buiucani sector—a 250-space lot; on Ghidighici Street in Buiucani—with 240 spaces; on Calea Orheiului in the Riscani sector—with 178 spaces; and on Hincesti Highway in the Center sector—with approximately 250 spaces. A detailed design is being developed for parking in the Botanical Garden area. In addition, the municipality is working on identifying and developing two more sites in Botanica -at the intersection of Dacia Boulevard and Valea Crucii Street and near the zoo. As part of the project, plans call for rerouting a number of public transportation routes, creating new ones, and purchasing an additional 50 vehicles to serve the capital's suburbs. According to Ion Ceban, the project is expected to reduce the number of cars entering Chisinau daily, as well as traffic jams and time spent in traffic. According to Mayor's office data, approximately 10,000 new parking spaces have been created in Chisinau in recent years, including large parking lots and on-street parking spaces. // 05.11.2026 - InfoMarket.
