These are the results of the structural survey of enterprises in Moldova for 2023, prepared by the National Bureau of Statistics. Compared to 2022, the list of leaders has not changed, only their sequence, for example, the state-owned company Energocom rose from 4th to 1st place, and Moldretail Croup rose from 5th to 3rd place. As before, the highest concentration level (84.1%) is in the sector of production and provision of electricity and heat energy, gas, water supply: the top 5 largest companies in the industry by turnover include Energocom, Moldovagaz, Premier Energy, Termoelectrica, Furmizarea Energie Electrice Nord. These enterprises employ 53.7% of the total number of workers in the sector. In total, 197 economic agents are registered in this sector with a total turnover of 56.3 billion lei, and the total number of employees is 10.9 thousand. The second place in terms of concentration is in the water supply, waste treatment and treatment sector, where 5 leading enterprises provided 55.1% of the turnover and 32.4% of jobs in the sector - Apă-Canal Chișinău, Autosalubritate, Metalferos, Apă-Canal Bălți and Direcția Drumuri Bălți. In total, the turnover of 447 enterprises in this sector in 2023 exceeded 2.5 billion lei, employing 7.8 thousand people. The third place in terms of enterprise concentration is in the information technology and communications sector - 35.7% of the turnover was provided by Orange Moldova, Moldtelecom, Moldcell, the Public Services Agency and Endava. 26.3% of the workers in the sector are employed by 5 companies in this sector. The total turnover of the sector (over 2.9 thousand enterprises, 32.2 thousand employees) in 2023 amounted to about 24.4 billion lei. In the transport and storage sector, the TOP-5 companies (22.6% of the turnover and 31.3% of the workers in the sector) included Fly One, Hisky, Moldovan Railways, Regia Transport Electric and Air Moldova. The turnover of this sector (3.2 thousand enterprises with 41.4 thousand employees) in total amounted to 31.5 billion lei. The highest concentration in terms of turnover of enterprises is also observed in the accommodation and catering sector – 21.3%, where the top 5 include: Trabo-Plus (Andy’s Pizza/La Placinte), Food Planet Restaurants (McDonald’s), Leogrand Hotel, FSS Invest (Mariott) and Deea House (Granier). Of the 18.2 thousand employees in this sector, 14.9% are employed in the TOP-5 companies. In total, the turnover of 2.1 thousand enterprises in this sector in 2023 exceeded 9.6 billion lei. In the manufacturing industry, the concentration level of the top 5 largest enterprises – Floarea Soarelui, SE Bordnetze, GG Cables&Wireles EE, Lear Corporation and Trans Oil Refinery – amounted to 15.2%. These companies employ 12.7% of the total average number of employees in the manufacturing industry. In total, 4.3 thousand enterprises (94.1 thousand employees) operate in this sector, and the industry turnover amounted to 83.1 billion lei. In wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, the companies Moldretail Group, Rompetrol Moldova, Lukoil-Moldova, Petrom-Moldova and Avante accounted for about 12% of the entire sector turnover and 7.7% of employees. In total, 18.6 thousand enterprises (121.7 thousand employees) operated in trade, and the industry turnover amounted to almost 290.7 billion lei. In the construction industry, 5 leading companies provided 9.3% of the turnover and 5% of jobs: Inamstro, Basconslux, Nouconst, Braus Imobiliare and Dansicons. In total, almost 3.5 thousand enterprises (27.5 thousand employees) are registered in the construction industry, with a total turnover of about 28.6 billion lei. For several industries, the concentration level is presented without specifying the leading companies. Thus, in the administrative activities and additional services sector, the concentration level of 5 leading enterprises was 44.5% (28.1% by number of employees), in the real estate sector - 26.7% (by number of employees - 9.2%), in the provision of other types of services - 23.9% (by number of employees - 11.1%), in the professional, scientific and technical activities sector - 7.1% (by number of employees - 4.3%). // 19.12.2024 — InfoMarket.
