The winner of a new tender for the lease of unused commercial areas of Duty Free at Chisinau Airport is scheduled to be named on March 29.
The Public Property Agency (APP) and the Chisinau airport announced this, presenting the new schedule of the public auction for commercial catering and specialized trade premises for the Sterile Zone, Duty Free zone in the premises of the Chisinau airport. They noted that on February 19, the deadline for submitting applications for participation in the tender for the lease of the mentioned commercial spaces at Chisinau airport ended and only 2 companies - LeBridge and Lagardere - submitted applications, which does not ensure sufficient competition. Due to the lack of sufficient competition, as well as some shortcomings in the process of organizing the auction, the specialized commission decided to resume the public auction. As a result, a new calendar of the public auction organization process was presented. According to it, in the period from February 21 to March 4, the preparation of documents to start the tender will take place in compliance with all legal requirements. On March 4, the announcement on the beginning of the tender will be placed. On March 11, the tender submission procedure will be launched and March 25 is the deadline for submission of bids. The bids will be considered from March 26 to 28 and on March 29 the auction will be held and its final results will be announced. Earlier it was reported that the Public Property Agency and Chisinau Airport initiated a tender for the lease of the capital's airport premises for a period of 3 years, where it is planned to carry out the activity of selling products, catering and retail sale of services and goods intended for the users of the Chisinau airport. The tender was announced for economic operators with international experience and impeccable reputation, in order to identify the best economic agent that will contribute to ensuring the highest possible level of passenger service and increasing confidence in Chisinau airport. It was planned that the rental cost per square meter of the Chisinau Airport assets dedicated to Travel Retail & Food and Beverages activities, commonly known as Sterile Zone and Duty Free Zone, will range from 10 euros per square meter (warehouse) to 80 euros per month (store in the sterile zone), depending on the area and location. According to the specification, the starting monthly rent for the 10 premises is 157.09 thousand euros. However, the rent is based on a traffic of 2.8 million passengers, and with each increase of 100 thousand passengers, the annual rent per calendar year will increase by 2% per year.
