The Ministry of Finance of Moldova announced the start of payments of indexed amounts to BEM depositors who submitted registration applications before December 31, 2023.
According to the financial department, in this way, persons born before 1991 inclusive, who did not receive indexed amounts related to the first stage and/or second stage in previous years, can receive their money. To receive this money, the beneficiary, his/her representative or heir must appear at any office/agency of the Moldova Post with an identification document. The heir additionally presents a death certificate and a notarized copy of the certificate of the heir, and the representative - a power of attorney drawn up in the manner prescribed by law. In cases where cash deposits are transferred to several heirs, the person requesting the indexed amount belonging to him/her submits an application for calculation of the indexed amount to be paid. Depositors born before 1991 inclusive, who have not yet submitted applications for indexation, can do this at any office or agency of the Post of Moldova, having with them an identity document and savings books of accounts opened before January 1, 1992. The state budget for 2024 provides 15 million lei for the payment of indexed amounts of citizens’ deposits in Banca de Economii. As the InfoMarket agency previously reported, at the first stage, indexation of household deposits is carried out in the ratio of 1 ruble to 1 lei for the first thousand rubles in all accounts. The second stage of indexation of deposits provides for payments in the ratio of 2.5 rubles to 1 lei on accounts with a balance of over 1 thousand rubles for one depositor. According to Banca de Economii, as of January 2, 1992, a total of 1 million 988.9 thousand accounts were registered in Moldova, and the amount of deposits on them amounted to 4 billion 137.3 million rubles.
