This was reported by the National Bureau of Statistics, noting that, according to preliminary estimates, the gross domestic product in the fourth quarter of 2022 amounted to 74.8 billion lei at current market prices. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, GDP decreased in real terms by 10.6%, and seasonally adjusted - by 11.8%. According to the NBS, the following types of economic activity contributed to the decrease in GDP in January-December 2022 compared to the same period in 2021: Agriculture, forestry and fisheries (caused a decline in GDP by 2.7%) with a specific weight of 7.9% in the formation of GDP and a decrease in gross value added (GVA) by 25.8%; Construction (-0.8%), with a 7.4% share in the formation of GDP and a 10% reduction in GVA; Real estate transactions (contributed to a decrease in GDP by 0.8%), with a share of 6.2% in the formation of GDP and a decrease in GVA by 10.9%; Processing industry (-0.7%), with a 9% share in the formation of GDP and a decrease in GVA by 7.5%; Production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (-0.4%), with a share in the formation of GDP of 2.8% and a decrease in GVA by 18%. At the same time, the following types of activities had a positive impact on the evolution of GDP in this period: Financial activities and insurance (contributed to GDP growth by 0.4%) with a 3.1% share in the 14.5%; Information and communication (+0.3%) with a 6% share in the formation of GDP and an increase in GVA for the relevant types of activities by 5.3%; Wholesale and retail trade; maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+0.2%) with a share of 17.1% in the formation of GDP and an increase in gross value added (GVA) by 1.4%; Accommodation and catering activities (+0.2%) with a share of 1.2% in the formation of GDP and an increase in GVA for the corresponding types of activities by 23.9%. According to the NBS, net taxes on products with a share of 14% in the formation of GDP contributed to a decline in GDP by 1.1%, and their volume decreased by 7.6%. According to the NBS, in terms of categories of use, the decline in GDP in 2022 was mainly due to: Final consumption of households (caused a decline in GDP by 3.3%), the volume of which decreased by 4%; gross fixed capital formation (which led to a 1.7% decline in GDP) with a decrease of 6.8%, as well as net exports of goods and services, which led to a decrease in GDP by 1.5%.
