These data were presented by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba during the hearings organized in the parliament on the platform of the Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration and the Commission for Economy, Budget and Finance. According to the press service of the parliament, the discussions focused on the progress made in the process of implementation by the Ministry of Economy of the Association Agreement of Moldova with the European Union, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA). Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization touched upon the current priorities in the context of the DCFTA implementation, among which the cancellation of the tariff quotas for duty-free supplies of Moldovan goods and the extension of the range of goods that can be exported to the EU market free of duty, continuation of the regulatory reform, consolidation and development of the regulatory framework in the information sector and promotion of digitalization of the economy. Secretary of State for the State Chancellery, Adrian Balutel, also attended the hearing and presented the harmonization actions envisaged in the Government Action Plan for 2023, as well as the need to strengthen inter-institutional capacities. It should be noted that Moldova officially applied for accession to the European Union on March 4, 2022. Later, the European Council recognized Moldova's European perspective and decided to grant it the status of an EU candidate country. In this context, the European Commission was requested to report to the European Council on the fulfillment of the conditions set out in its June 17, 2022 Opinion, as part of its next enlargement package.
