
In the first quarter of 2022, the non-bank lending market provided financing in the amount of 12.9 billion lei, and 433,000 people became clients of non-bank credit institutions and savings and loan associations.
According to the National Commission for the Financial Market, non-bank credit institutions provided financing in the amount of 11.8 billion lei, and savings and loan associations - 1.1 billion lei. Compared to the first quarter of last year, the portfolio of non-bank financing increased by 19.4%. At the same time, the number of clients in this market (non-bank credit institutions and savings and loan associations) remains approximately at the level of the same period last year – 433,000 individuals and legal entities. The NCFM notes a trend towards an increase in the average size of one non-bank loan in the system: if in January-March 2021 it amounted to 23 thousand lei, then in the first quarter of 2022 - 30 thousand lei. In general, the size of the average loan issued by non-bank credit institutions increased by 30%, and savings and loan associations - by 22% compared to Q1 2021. The total assets of the entire non-banking lending sector (non-bank credit institutions and savings and loan associations) increased over the past 12 months by 2.3 billion, amounting to 14 billion lei as of March 31, 2022. In particular, the assets of non-bank credit institutions amounted to 12.8 billion lei (+20.7% compared to the data at the end of March 2021), and the volume of savings and loan associations assets - 1.2 billion lei (+6.7%). Herewith, the equity capital of non-bank credit institutions amounted to 4.5 billion lei (+16.3%), while the accumulated capital of savings and loan associations reached 412.1 million lei (+10.2%). According to the NCFM, as of April 1, 2022, the Register of authorized non-bank credit institutions included 136 organizations with the right to operate in the field of non-bank lending and 29 legal entities that decided to liquidate or temporarily suspend their activities.
