The lack of qualified workers is the main problem for investors who open production facilities in Moldova - Marin Ciobanu.

The administrator of the Balti Free Economic Zone (FEZ), in an interview with the newspaper «Ekonomicheskoye Obozreniye," said that the personnel problem in Moldova is worsening. "We cannot attract investment in the country because of the lack of skilled labor, and young people of working age are leaving the country en masse because of the lack of well-paid jobs. Breaking this vicious circle is one of the most important tasks of the state that needs to be solved immediately," said Marin Ciobanu. He said that the dual education system can partially solve this problem. "We have signed agreements with several educational institutions to train professional staff on the basis of dual education. We opened the Engineering College in Straseni in 2019, where we also train mid-level engineering personnel using the dual education system and the most modern equipment. In addition to practical training at partner companies, they undergo internships in Germany. But today we should already speak not only about the introduction of dual education, but about radical changes in educational programs and specializations. Most of the companies that we expect to come to Moldova in the near future, use in the production process metal working on modern equipment with numerical control, laser cutting and welding and production of plastic products by injection or under pressure. Who is training these kinds of specialists here today? We urgently need serious investment in the Technical University and other vocational educational institutions in order to prepare qualified specialists for modern industry. Otherwise, there is no chance to implement the program of industrialization of Moldova and attract investors in this area," said Ciobanu. He also recalled that recently a 500 thousand euros agreement was signed with a donor from Germany. This money will be used to buy equipment for metal processing and plastic injection molding. This will make it possible to create two centers for training outside the companies and this is an important reference point for potential investors. Both centers will be housed at the former Testing Institute and will be operational by June 1, 2022. // 27.12.2021 - InfoMarket
