The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) will assume the chairmanship of the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe on December 16
According to the NBM, this is one of the most important platforms for cooperation between banking supervisory authorities in the region. The mandate of the chair will be carried out by the Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Constantin Schendra, from December 16, 2025, to December 15, 2026, in accordance with the decision taken at the 37th annual conference of the Group, held in June in Ljubljana (Slovenia). Constantin Schendra noted that he is taking on the chairmanship of the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe with great responsibility. According to him, this Group brings together 24 supervisory authorities and has become a real space for dialogue and mutual learning over time. "In a period marked by rapid technological change, growing cyber risks, and constant changes in financial markets, cooperation between supervisory authorities is crucial. I hope that during this term we will strengthen this cooperation and advance joint projects that can increase the resilience of the banking sector throughout the region," the NBM Vice-Governor emphasized. He noted that Moldova's participation in the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe reflects our country's determination to strengthen banking supervision and move towards integration into European practices. At the same time, the National Bank of Moldova expresses its readiness to host the next annual conference of the Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe in 2026, confirming its active role in promoting regional dialogue and cooperation. The Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe (BSCEE) is a network founded in 1991 that brings together banking supervisory authorities from 24 countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe.
