
About 100 representatives of central banks and ministries of finance of the IMF and World Bank member countries will take part in a major summit, which will be held in Chisinau from July 10 to 12.
The National Bank of Moldova announced this, noting that this week Chisinau will become an international financial center, and influential representatives of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank will gather for the event organized by the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance of Moldova. Forum participants will discuss topics related to global economic development, regional problems, as well as ways to adopt the experience and policies of the IMF and the World Bank. The event will be attended by senior officials of two international organizations: IMF Deputy Director General Kenji Okamura, IMF Executive Director for Moldova Paul Hilbers, WB Executive Director for Moldova Eugene Rhuggenaath, Vice President of the WB Group for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani, as well as other officials. Also during the meeting on July 11, President of Moldova Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean will deliver greetings. The event is organized by the National Bank of Moldova and the Ministry of Finance. “This meeting is an opportunity to discuss the continuation of structural reforms, attracting foreign investment and ways to create a competitive and transparent business environment. We will also analyze how we can maximize the benefits of international cooperation and how we can use the IMF’s experience to achieve our development goals,” emphasized NBM President Anca Dragu.
