The National Bank of Moldova advocates for greater access to IFC programs dedicated to non-financial institutions and the insurance sector in Moldova.
This was announced by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Anca Dragu at a meeting with the Senior Manager for Latin America and Europe of the International Finance Corporation (IFC, part of the World Bank group) Marcelo Castellanos and the IFC representative in Moldova Galina Cicanci. As noted by the NBM, the discussions concerned the current favorable macroeconomic situation in Moldova, the importance of expanding financial intermediation and diversifying financing instruments. Governor of the NBM emphasized that increasing lending in the real sector of the economy is especially important for ensuring sustainable economic growth in our country. “Equally, we want greater access to IFC programs focused on non-financial institutions and the insurance sector in Moldova,” she added. Anca Dragu noted the importance of developing the capital market and emphasized the role of IFC in this process. “We want the proposed financing programs to be accompanied by the exchange of best practices in this area,” the head of the National Bank emphasized. IFC representatives highly appreciated the activities of the National Bank of Moldova and the financial and banking sector of our country, emphasizing the progress of the NBM in promoting the digitalization of financial services. The parties agreed to maintain a constant dialogue in order to monitor the dynamics of identified cooperation opportunities.
