Moldovan individuals and legal entities in Q4 2023 made 14.68 million payments via internet and mobile banking for a total amount of 267.12 billion lei.
As follows from the data of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), in the same period of the previous year, they made 13.07 million transactions worth 274.74 billion lei. Thus, the number of payments via internet and mobile banking in the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, increased by 12.32%, while the total amount of payments decreased by 2.8%. This was due to the decrease of payments by legal entities by 8.79 billion lei (-3.3%) - from 261.78 billion lei to 252.99 billion lei, while individuals increased their payments by 1.17 billion lei (+9%) - from 12.96 billion lei to 14.13 billion lei. At the same time, individuals most often make payments through mobile banking, while legal entities - through Internet banking. Thus, citizens paid 10.08 billion lei through mobile payments in the fourth quarter of 2023 (over 8.8 billion lei in the same period a year earlier), while legal entities - 2.76 billion lei (1.65 billion lei). At the same time, companies made payments worth 250.23 billion lei via internet banking in the fourth quarter of 2023 (258.65 billion lei a year earlier), while individuals only made payments worth 4.05 billion lei (4.15 billion lei). // 09.02.2024 - InfoMarket
