As follows from the data of the National Bank of Moldova, at the same time, citizens still use cards mainly to withdraw cash, although the trend of dynamic growth in the volume of non-cash payments continues, and the share of such transactions in the total volume is constantly growing. In particular, the volume of cash withdrawn from bank cards issued in Moldova in 2023, compared to the previous year, increased by 13.3% - to 89 billion 456.6 million lei, and the volume of non-cash payments on them increased by 32.3% - up to 60 billion 709.9 million lei. Herewith, the volume of non-cash payments in the banks’ own network (on-us) increased by 39.6% - from 17 billion 119.8 million to 23 billion 904.1 million lei; in the network of other banks of the Republic of Moldova - increased by 31.6% - from 17 billion 602.3 million to 23 billion 163.7 million lei; abroad - increased by 22% - from 11 billion 179.4 million to 13 billion 642.2 million lei. According to the NBM, the volume of non-cash payments with the physical presence of a card in 2023, compared to 2022, increased by 36.7% - from 27 billion 558.1 million to 37 billion 670.3 million lei; without the physical presence of the card, through electronic commerce platforms (e-commerce) - increased by 17.2% - from 8 billion 124.5 million to 9 billion 523.7 million lei; without the physical presence of the card, through automated remote service systems - increased by 26.6% - from 9 billion 351.7 million to 11 billion 841.03 million lei. Meanwhile, the volume of cash withdrawals in the banks’ own network (on-us) increased by 13.1% - from 75 billion 568.9 million to 85 billion 474.3 million lei; in the network of other banks of the Republic of Moldova - increased by 21.8% - from 2 billion 518.1 million to 3 billion 068.2 million lei, and abroad - increased by 2.2% - from 894.04 million to 914.14 million lei. According to the NBM, in 2023, compared to the previous year, the volume of transactions carried out in Moldova using cards issued abroad increased by 0.5% - to 19 billion 246.8 million lei.
