Victoriabank acquires BCR Chișinău: The Competition Council of Moldova is analyzing the deal.
The Competition Council asks all interested parties to comment on how this economic concentration may affect the competitive environment. Recall that at the end of March, Victoriabank, which is part of the Banca Transilvania group (Romania), announced that it was acquiring BCR Chișinău, a branch of Banca Comercială Română, which is part of the Erste group (Austria). Victoriabank reported that it had agreed with Banca Comercială Română on the full sale of BCR Chisinau shares owned by Banca Comercială Română. Victoriabank is the third largest bank in Moldova with almost 300,000 active clients and 70 offices throughout the country. Completion of the transaction is expected in the second half of this year and is subject to several preconditions, including the approval of the National Bank of Moldova, the National Bank of Romania, the European Central Bank, the Competition Council of Moldova and the National Commission for the Financial Market of Moldova. Until permits are obtained, BCR Chișinău and Victoriabank will operate independently, after which BCR Chișinău will be integrated into Victoriabank. BCR Chișinău has more than 13 thousand active clients, 110 employees and 4 divisions: 2 in Chisinau and 1 in each Cahul and Balti. // 26.06.2023 — InfoMarket.
