
The average interest rate on new term deposits in national currency in January 2021 amounted to 3.44%, up 0.18 percentage points compared to the previous month.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, compared to January of the previous year, the average interest rate on new term deposits in national currency decreased by 1.24 percentage points. Individuals placed deposits in national currency in January 2021 at an average rate of 3.81%, legal entities - at an average rate of 2.43%. At the same time, versus the previous month, the average interest rate on deposits of individuals in January 2021 did not change, and on deposits of legal entities - increased by 0.23 percentage points. At the same time, relative to January of the previous year, the average interest rate on deposits of individuals in January 2021 decreased by 1.34 percentage points, and the interest rate for legal entities - decreased by 0.82 percentage points. Deposits in national currency for a period of 6 to 12 months were the most attractive in the reporting month and were attracted at an average rate of 3.56%, while the average rate for individuals was 3.8%, for legal entities - 2.33%. The highest average interest rate on deposits attracted in national currency from individuals was on deposits for a period exceeding 5 years, amounting to 5.14% per annum, and for legal entities - on deposits for a period from 1 year to 2 years, amounting to 4.11% per annum.
