According to the Balance of Payments data published by the National Bank of Moldova, during this period, the general government's external debt increased by $1 billion 152.41 million (+32.2%) – from $3 billion 575.01 million at the end of the first half of 2024 to $4 billion 727.42 million at the end of the first half of 2025. This increase was due to the acquisition of new external loans.
