The new National Wine Competition "Wine of Moldova" will be held in Moldova from December 4th to 6th
This event aims to recognize the best wines produced under the national brand "Wine of Moldova. Amazingly Good" and strengthen their position in both domestic and international markets. This year's competition is special, as it is taking place in a year marked by global recognition: Moldovan wine has been recognized at two of the most prestigious international events in this field—the 46th World Congress of Vine and Wine and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The National Wine Competition "Wine of Moldova" is organized by the National Bureau of Vine and Wine (NBVW) with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and in partnership with associations of producers of wines with protected geographical indications and other professional organizations in the field. The competition is a key element of the NBVW's annual program, whose mission is to promote the national brand "Wine of Moldova. Amazingly Good" at the local and international level, as well as supporting winemakers' participation in key competitions and specialized exhibitions. Thanks to the ongoing collaboration between the National Oncological Winery and the wine industry, Moldovan wines, united under a single national brand, have established themselves in recent years as symbols of excellence, quality, and authenticity, reflecting a unique balance of tradition, terroir, and innovation. Stefan Iamandi, Director of the National Bureau of Vine and Wine, noted that the National Competition "Wine of Moldova" is an important event supporting quality assurance policies in the wine industry. The competition directly contributes to the rigorous evaluation of wine products and the industry's continued compliance with international requirements, confirming the maturity of the Moldovan wine industry. The National Competition "Wine of Moldova" is held in accordance with the strict rules of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), according to which only 30% of the total number of samples submitted will be awarded. Thus, the competition becomes a significant event, where wineries confirm that high standards in the domestic market translate into a reputation earned on the international stage. This year, the competition is open to wines made from local varieties, new Moldovan-bred varieties, international varieties, single-varietal and blended varieties, as well as spirits of grape origin produced by winemakers registered in the Wine Registry and who are contributors to the Vine and Wine Fund. The wines will be evaluated by a jury consisting of 70% foreign experts and 30% local specialists with experience participating in international tastings. According to OIV regulations, awards will be given on the following scale: Grand Gold Medal (minimum 93 points), Gold Medal (89–92.99 points), Silver Medal (85–88.99 points). The winners will be announced during the winter opening of the wine exhibition. The application deadline is November 28. // 21.11.2025 — InfoMarket
