The EU noted Moldova's progress in implementing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) and called on the authorities to maintain the pace of reforms to strengthen the economy's integration into the European market

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, this was discussed during the 12th meeting of the Moldova-EU Association Committee in the Trade configuration, held in Chisinau on November 18-19. The meeting was co-chaired by Cristina Ceban, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, and Ewa Krauza, Deputy Head of Unit of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Trade. The meeting provided a basis for assessing the progress achieved in the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) in key trade sectors: trade facilitation, business environment, competition, technical barriers to trade, intellectual property and geographical indications, trade in services, trade-related energy aspects, public procurement, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, customs cooperation, trade and sustainable development, as well as the implementation of the agreement in the Transnistrian region. According to Cristina Ceban, the implementation of the DCFTA remains a strategic pillar of European integration and a crucial factor in the modernization of the national economy. According to her, Moldova reaffirms its strong commitment to the principles, standards and instruments of the European Union trade policy, including in the field of trade facilitation, investment protection, digitalization and sustainable development. In turn, Ewa Krauza stated that the EU welcomes Moldova's progress in implementing the DCFTA and in achieving European trade standards. "We call on the Moldovan authorities to maintain the pace of reforms to strengthen the integration of the national economy into the European market," she noted. Representatives of several agencies spoke about Moldova's developments, including the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Competition Council, the State Agency for Intellectual Property, the National Bank of Moldova, the National Commission for Financial Market, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the National Agency for Food Safety, the Customs Service, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Justice, and the Bureau for Reintegration Policies. In turn, the European side, through its various directorates, presented relevant updates and policies for the aforementioned sectors. At the end of the meeting, operational conclusions aimed at improving trade cooperation between Moldova and the European Union were agreed upon, and the parties' firm commitment to further implementing the DCFTA as an integral part of Moldova's European path was reaffirmed.// 19.11.2025 — InfoMarket.
