The head of the European Parliament delegation for relations with Moldova, Siegfried Muresan, called on the EU to start negotiations with Moldova on the first three clusters as soon as possible
The Romanian MEP noted that the package of enlargement measures presented by the European Commission on Tuesday confirms what the European Parliament said in September: Moldova is ready to start accession negotiations and on specific sections of the agreement. In its report, the European Commission stated that Moldova is ready to start negotiations in the following areas: “Fundamental Values,” “External Relations,” and “Internal Market.” “As chair of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova, taking into account the content of the enlargement package, I reiterate the delegation's call on EU member states to start negotiations with Moldova on these sections without delay,” said Siegfried Muresan. According to him, Moldova is ready for this step, which has also been confirmed by the European Commission. Siegfried Muresan noted that Moldova has a new government, supported in parliament by an absolute pro-European majority. “This majority in parliament will guarantee stability and the continuation of reforms over the next four years. Thus, all the prerequisites are in place for the completion of accession negotiations at the technical level within these four years, if we start them now. There are no longer any technical reasons to postpone the start of negotiations on the chapters,” he stressed. // 05.11.2025 — InfoMarket
