Government has approved tax and customs exemptions for imports of natural gas and electricity as part of the “Strengthening Moldova's Energy Security” project worth €400 million

According to the Cabinet, the project aims to ensure the security of natural gas and electricity supplies to all consumers. The application of VAT, excise, and customs duty exemptions will reduce the project's costs by approximately €80 million. The total cost of the project is €400 million; it is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and implemented by the state-owned company Energocom. The authorities note that energy security remains a priority for the government, especially during the cold season. According to estimates by the authorities and companies in the energy sector, our country is ready for the start of the 2025-2026 heating season. The volume of natural gas required for the cold period has been almost completely purchased, and the annual procurement procedures for electricity are planned to start before September 30. // 24.09.2025 — InfoMarket.
