The Ministry of Finance announced this, that today in Brussels the bilateral screening, which began in July 2024, was completed, and the last chapter analyzed was Chapter 33 "Financial and Budgetary Provisions", coordinated by the Ministry of Finance. This stage marks the completion of the comparative analysis of national legislation with EU legislation and preparation for accession negotiations. The meeting was opened by Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Moldova's Chief Negotiator, who emphasized the importance of the current situation and the crucial role of national institutions in this process. The Ministry of Finance team, led by Secretaries of State Maia Savva and Corina Alexa, presented information on how Moldova will manage its traditional domestic resources (in particular, customs duties), VAT-based contributions, gross national income, and waste from unrecycled plastic packaging. Measures to enhance transparency and prevent corruption in financial resource management were also highlighted. European Commission representatives praised the presentations and constructive dialogue, reiterating their support for Moldova in preparation for accession negotiations.
