Inflation slows down and prices stabilize in Moldova – the Ministry of Economic Development
The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization reported this, noting that data published by the National Bureau of Statistics show that in August 2025, consumer prices fell by 0.4% compared to the previous month, which is an encouraging sign of declining inflation and a general trend toward price stabilization. As emphasized by the Ministry, food prices have fallen significantly: fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, sugar, pasta, and some types of meat. Among services, electricity tariffs have decreased. Among non-food items, prices for fuels and lubricants, new cars, and household appliances (refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dishwashers, and televisions) have fallen. This decline has helped to ease the burden on family budgets and “has given consumers a breath of fresh air.” “In August 2025, annual inflation was 7.3%, but monthly dynamics show a noticeable slowdown in price growth. For consumers, this means greater predictability, and for the business environment, a more reliable basis for planning,” the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization noted. At the same time, last month, annual inflation in the European Union stabilized at 2.4%, approaching the European Central Bank's target of 2%. Monthly dynamics show a noticeable slowdown in price growth. However, in Moldova's neighboring countries, the annual inflation rate remained significantly higher: in Romania – 7.8% (July 2025 compared to July 2024), and in Ukraine – 13.2%. // 11.09.2025 — InfoMarket.
