Three Moldovan settlements will receive funding to strengthen the sustainability and growth of the local economy as part of the EU's local development initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth”

In particular, the European Union's flagship local development initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth” (M4EG), implemented by UNDP, has announced that 10 cities in Moldova, Ukraine, and Armenia will receive funding to strengthen the sustainability and growth of their local economies. The cities of Leova and the villages of Copceac and Sireti were selected from Moldova, while Khmelnytskyi, Bucha, Zhytomyr, Slavutych, and from Armenia - Aparan, Goris, and Noyemberyan. The competition to participate in the one-year program “Path to a Mission-Oriented Economy” was announced on May 26. Each winner will receive approximately €17,500 and will be eligible for up to €105,500 to develop and implement interlinked measures within targeted portfolios focusing on economic sustainability and the green transition. This additional EU funding and practical support under the M4EG program will promote innovation and cooperation, as well as improve the investment climate. Since 2017, the Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) program has been supporting villages, towns, and cities in the Eastern Partnership countries. By promoting innovative approaches to inclusive economic growth, M4EG helps beneficiaries become more attractive to both residents and investors. In 2025 alone, M4EG allocated around €1 million to support and strengthen local authorities so that they can independently pursue their path of economic transformation. // 11.08.2025 — InfoMarket.
