Moldova and the European Union will sign a loan agreement, which will establish specific terms for EU support under the Reform and Growth Facility for Moldova

Parliament's press service reported this, noting that the Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration approved the launch of negotiations and the subsequent signing of this loan agreement between Moldova and the European Union. The document will set the principles of cooperation between the European Commission and Moldova, and its common goal is the implementation of the Reform Program in Moldova. The implementation of the agreement will contribute to consolidating the rule of law and good governance; supporting the transition to a green and digital economy; strengthening economic and social sustainability; accelerating the rapprochement with the European Union. After signing, the agreement will be proposed to the Parliament for ratification. As previously reported, in early March, the European Parliament approved a Growth Plan for Moldova with funding of 1.9 billion euros. The EU is expected to provide up to 385 million euros in grants and 1.5 billion euros in loans in 2025-2027. These loans will be highly concessional, with long repayment periods and favorable interest rates. Disbursements will be subject to strict conditions in terms of achieving the reforms set out in the agreed reform program. The EU is allocating funds from the Reform and Growth Facility for Moldova for the following purposes: new roads, bridges and railroad infrastructure; energy security - to complete a new power transmission line and start the construction of 2 more, which will connect Moldova to the EU power grid; construction of 2 new well-equipped hospitals in Cahul and Balti; improving access to finance and supporting 25 thousand enterprises, including small family businesses, etc. // 23.04.2025 - InfoMarket.
