Moldova launched the National Fund for Innovation and Technology Transfer with a budget for the next 2 years amounting to 35 million lei
This Fund will become a mechanism to support research, innovation and technology transfer, as well as promote cooperation between the scientific and economic sectors. The new Fund will finance innovation and technology transfer projects, creating spaces where ideas can be tested and improved - hubs, laboratories, and incubators. At the same time, the aim is to connect universities and companies and support young researchers and startups. Attending the launch of the fund, Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized the importance of investments in innovations. He noted that Moldova has already initiated several projects and startups that have been successfully realized at the international level. Among them are an application for managing personal finances (Salt Edge), an algorithm for the security of power grids, an interactive educational platform for learning foreign languages (FunEasyLearn). The activity of robotics and STEM circles and educational projects such as Bloomcoding, preparing the digital generation, were also highlighted. “Moldova can do it. We already have examples that show this: we have startups that have reached the international level, we have young people who have returned home and are creating industrial robots or electronic chips, we have successful educational projects that show that Moldova has talented people with whom we can build a stronger economy,” Dorin Recean added. For his part, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun emphasized the Fund's role in boosting the economic development. According to him, with the help of the Fund, the authorities aim to bring the academic environment closer to the private sector and create concrete opportunities to introduce advanced technologies into the economy. “This is an important step towards strengthening the knowledge-based economy and competitiveness,” he emphasized. The National Fund for Innovation and Technology Transfer will support projects in strategic areas envisaged in the state policy documents elaborated by the Ministry of Education and Research - the National Research and Innovation Program for 2024-2027 and “Smart Moldova” National Smart Specialisation Program 2024-2027. At the initial stage, the Fund will support cooperation between the scientific and business environment through innovation projects, technology transfer projects and innovation vouchers. The successful implementation of these instruments will allow attracting investments in innovative projects and activities from the local and international business environment, as well as from external development partners. The Fund will be managed by the National Agency for Research and Development. // 31.03.2025 - InfoMarket
