Moldova announces EU grant competition with a budget of about 6.5 million lei to provide cities with equipment for rapid response to natural disasters and emergencies

This was reported by the Permanent Representation of the European Union in our country, noting that, in particular, the cities of Moldova will receive special equipment for rapid response to natural disasters and other emergencies. Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, with financial support from the European Union, announced a grant program with a budget of about 6.5 million lei for municipal enterprises responsible for public utilities. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the ability of small and medium-sized cities to quickly respond to natural disasters, climate change and other risks. The provided equipment will help to quickly eliminate the consequences of heavy snowfalls, heavy rains, floods, fallen trees and blocked roads, thereby ensuring the safety of local communities. The financing program provides for 2 types of equipment packages. The first includes 6 sets of medium-power tractors (50-90 hp) with a snow plow. The second category includes equipment for eliminating the consequences of storms, floods and other natural disasters: 6 sets of dump trailers, wood chippers and water pumps. A total of 12 municipal enterprises will receive grants. Each of them will be able to receive equipment worth up to 766 thousand lei (for the first category) and up to 312 thousand lei (for the second category). Only municipal enterprises managing public utilities in cities with a population of up to 18 thousand residents can apply. The deadline for submitting applications is March 31. More detailed information on the application process and selection criteria can be found on the official website of Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova. This grant competition is part of the EU4Moldova: Resilient Country – Strong Communities project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova. The budget of the EU4Moldova: Resilient Country – Strong Communities project, funded by the EU, is 9.5 million euros.
