The state of emergency in Moldova, introduced on December 16 due to the energy crisis in Transnistria, will not be extended

Due to the fact that the state of emergency, introduced for 60 days in December last year, expires on February 13, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that this regime will not be extended. "At this stage, the necessary conditions have been created to provide the Transnistrian region with natural gas, without the need to introduce a state of emergency. This was necessary in order to be able to purchase gas and electricity, given that Russia stopped gas supplies to the Transnistrian region," the prime minister said. At the same time, Dorin Recean said that several important decisions were made at the last meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CES). In particular, 1.2 billion lei will be allocated to the compensation fund from several partner countries to cover the increase in heating bills. This money will allow citizens participating in the compensation program to receive monthly financial assistance in the amount of 500 to 1400 lei for the heating season, which will end in March. Herewith, the 30 million euros provided by the European Union in the form of emergency humanitarian aid will be transferred to the account of Energocom, which during this period purchased gas for the left bank at its own expense - for 20 million euros and electricity for the right bank - for 10 million euros. The head of government specified that the decisions were taken by the Commission for Emergency Situations so that "citizens could immediately receive assistance from the European Union, which was provided specifically to prevent a security and humanitarian crisis deliberately provoked by the Russian Federation."//13.02.2025 — InfoMarket.
