Moldova will receive 1.3 billion lei grant from the United States to develop transport infrastructure and increase the country's cyber resilience
This was reported by the government's press service, noting that Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the head of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Moldova John Allelo signed a joint statement on January 15. It is aimed at providing additional support under the Development Assistance Agreement signed by the governments of Moldova and the United States. "We thank the U.S. government for supporting development programs in our country. The new 1.3 billion lei grant provided to Moldova will contribute to the prosperity of our citizens and ensure a high quality of life in peace and security," Dorin Recean said. According to the prime minister, part of the allocated amount will be directed to projects to develop transport infrastructure to improve trade and economic cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine. Another part of the grant will be used to build truck parking lots near the state borders, purchase equipment and provide technical assistance for the development of the Multimodal Logistics Center in Beresti. The funds are also intended to increase the cyber resilience of government and public institutions. The assistance will include cyber security training and development of relevant skills to anticipate and respond to cyber threats. “We will continue to invest in projects that directly benefit the people of Moldova and contribute to the prosperity and secure future of its citizens,” said USAID Moldova Mission Director John Allelo. The Development Assistance Agreement between the Governments of Moldova and the United States to ensure sustainable economic growth in the Republic of Moldova based on European integration was signed in Chisinau on September 28, 2016. Over 30 years of partnership with the Government of Moldova, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has implemented more than 130 development projects, providing $2.1 billion to Moldova.// 15.01.2025 – InfoMarket.
