Moldova to adopt a law on lobbying activity

Parliament’s press service reported that a Moldovan parliamentary delegation paid a working visit to the German Bundestag and a number of state institutions in Berlin to receive consultations on the elaboration of a draft law on lobbying activity. The delegation included members of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities Veronica Rosca, Radu Mudreac, Igor Chiriac, Artemie Catanoi, Roman Rosca, Corneliu Furculita, parliamentary Secretary-General Igor Talmazan and a group of functionaries. In Berlin, the parliamentary delegation held specialized discussions with German MPs and officials of the Bundestag, with representatives of the academic environment, civil society and some state institutions on the issues of transparency of representation of interests in the legislative process in Germany. The main topics of discussion were the Lobby Register, controlling the influence of large companies and non-economic interest groups on the legislative process, the activities of investigative committees in the German Bundestag, and the Code of Conduct of the Bundestag members. During the visit, Parliamentary Secretary General Igor Talmazan met with his German counterpart, Secretary General of the German Bundestag Michael Schäfer. The discussions concerned the transfer of best practices, best practices between the officials of the two parliamentary institutions.
