
Moldova: Annual inflation (over the last 12 months) continues to rise, amounting to 4.8% in July 2024 against 3.76% a month earlier and 3.28% in May
The National Bureau of Statistics reported this, noting that in July last year annual inflation in Moldova amounted to 10.76%. At the same time, in July 2024, compared to July last year, the average consumer prices for food products increased by 4.2%, for non-food products - increased by 6.45%, while the prices for services rendered to the population increased by 2.85%. It should be noted that the annual inflation rate in Moldova has been constantly decreasing since November 2022, and in January 2024 it increased again, amounting to 4.55% against 4.2% in December 2023. In February this year the indicator started to decrease again, amounting to 4.31%, in March - 3.94%, in April - 3.51%, in May - 3.28%. At the same time, in May 2024, for the first time in almost 3 years, annual inflation in Moldova fell below the lower boundary of the target corridor set by the NBM, which is 5% ±1.5 p.p., i.e. within the range from 3.5% to 6.5%. However, in June, annual inflation started to rise again, amounting to 3.76%, while in July - 4.8%. As follows from the National Bank's data, the lowest annual inflation rate in the last 12 years was in January 2021, amounting to 0.22%.
