
Moldova: the volume of industrial products manufactured in 2023 amounted to 87.6 billion lei, down by 3.6% in comparable prices relative to 2022
Such data were presented by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which previously did not provide information on the volume of industrial production last year in absolute figures. As noted, the largest share in total industrial production last year was taken by the processing industry - 83.9%, and the second place was taken by the industry “production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water” - 12.4%. According to official statistics, the value of the produced goods in current prices in 2023 in the processing industry amounted to 73 billion 543.7 million lei (2022 - 73 billion 705.8 million lei), accounting for 83.9% of the total value of production, of which the food industry produced goods worth 28 billion 151.6 million lei (2022 - 29 billion 605.8 million lei), accounting for 32.1% of the total value of production. According to the NBS, the production of other products from non-metallic minerals accounted for 8.9% of the total value of production (produced products worth 7 billion 806.4 million lei ); production of beverages - 8.2% (7 billion 178.2 million lei); production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers - 7.5% (6 billion 557.2 million lei); production of rubber and plastic products - 3.6% (3 billion 167.7 million lei); production of clothing - 3.5% (3 billion 083.7 million lei); production of textile products - 3.4% (2 billion 976 million lei); production of metal constructions and metal products, except machines, equipment and installations - 3.1% (2 billion 720.6 million lei); production of furniture - 3.1% (2 billion 718.2 million lei); production of chemicals and chemical products - 2.4% (2 billion 085.3 million lei), etc. The share of the production of metal structures and metal products, except machines, equipment and installations - 3.1% (2 billion 720.6 million lei). In 2023, the share of products supplied to the domestic market amounted to 65.5% of the total volume of products supplied (in 2022 - 64.5%), and accordingly, the share of products supplied to the external market - 34.5% (2022 - 35.5%). In 2023, the largest share in the total volume of industrial products accounted for enterprises with private ownership (49.4%, or 43 billion 248.6 million lei). They were followed by enterprises with foreign ownership (19.8%, or 17 billion 372.9 million lei) and enterprises with mixed ownership (17.3%, or 15 billion 142.6 million lei). The smallest share was held by state-owned enterprises (12.4%, or 10 billion 874.8 million lei) and enterprises with mixed form of ownership without foreign participation (1.1%, or 957.6 million lei). The data on industrial activity by development regions show that 52.9% of industrial activity is concentrated in Chisinau municipality, 22% - in the Northern region, 17.1% - in the Central region, 4.9% - in the Southern region and 3.1% - in ATU Gagauzia.
