
The total volume of investments by residents of the Balti FEZ over the 14 years of its operation exceeded $313 million; these companies provide 15% of Moldova’s total exports.
This was announced by the administration of the Balti free economic zone, emphasizing that this FEZ is celebrating 14 years of its successful operation, and this is a time to reflect on the progress it has made and recognition of the efforts made to stimulate the country's economic growth, improve living standards and reduce poverty. As noted, over the years, the Balti FEZ has gone through a number of tests and has many achievements. Despite the obstacles that arose, the Balti FEZ managed to maintain direction and develop rapidly, being a leader among other FEZs in all respects. Thus, over 14 years, the administration of the Balti FEZ managed to attract 94 resident companies, which in total invested more than $313 million and created more than 10 thousand direct jobs with an average salary of approximately 11255 lei. Last year alone, residents of the Balti FEZ paid taxes to the state budget in the amount of 600 million lei and ensured sales of industrial products worth approximately 8.6 billion lei. Since the creation of the Balti FEZ, more than 5 billion lei have been paid in the form of duties and taxes, and more than 10 billion lei in the form of salaries. Thus, residents of the Balti FEZ paid a total of more than $1 billion in duties, taxes and local purchases.
