The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, in particular, in December 2023 Moldova’s trade balance deficit amounted to $498.7 million, which is $140.7 million (39.3%) more than the previous month, but $28.1 million (5.3%) lower than in December of the previous year. In general, in 2023, compared to 2022, the trade balance deficit of Moldova with the EU countries decreased by 15.7% - to $1 billion 541.2 million, with the CIS countries - decreased by 37.6% - to $712.8 million, and with other countries - increased by 23.7% - to $2 billion 371.1 million. According to the NBS, the largest trade deficit of Moldova in 2023 was noted in trade with China, which amounted to $1 billion 009.6 million (up by 7.7% compared to 2022).
