
Moldova: Industrial production volume in January-November 2023 decreased by 4.1% relative to the same period of 2022.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported this, without providing data in value terms. According to the agency, at the same time, in November 2023, the volume of industrial production decreased by 6.1%, compared to the same month of the previous year. As noted, the decline in production (gross series) in November 2023, compared to November 2022 (by 6.1%) was due to a decrease in the volume of production in the manufacturing industry (-8.1%), which led to a decrease in production in the whole industry by 6.5%. At the same time, there were increases in mining (+13.8%) and electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning production (+1.1%), which mitigated the 0.3% and 0.2% decline in total industrial output, respectively. Overall, in January-November 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, output in the extractive industry decreased by 8.6% and in the processing industry by 5.6%. At enterprises producing electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning, the growth amounted to 4.8%. According to statistics, in January-November 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, growth was noted in the following segments: production of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals (+19.2%); production in the metallurgical industry (+27%); production of computers, electronic and optical products (+16.5%); production of electrical equipment (+66.8%); production of machinery and equipment (2.7 times growth). At the same time, there was a decrease in production at enterprises of food industry (-12.9%); beverages (-6%); textile products (-7.9%); clothing (-16.7%); paper and paper products (-11.8%); chemicals and chemical products (-27.3%); rubber and plastic products (10.1%); metal structures and products, except machinery, equipment and installations (-4.2%); automobiles, trailers and semi-trailers (-12.5%); furniture (-8.5%). In the section "tanning and finishing of leather; manufacture of suitcases, bags, saddlery; dressing and dyeing of fur" the decline amounted to 14.2%; in the section "processing of wood and manufacture of wood and cork products, except furniture; manufacture of products made of straw and other plant materials for weaving" - a decline of 2% was registered; in the section repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment - a decline of 1.3%.
