This was reported by the Customs Service of Moldova, making some clarifications in the context of recent discussions in the public space regarding the application of the new Customs Code of Moldova among economic agents located on the territory of Moldova, but not having tax relations with its budgetary system (from the Transnistrian region). The Customs Service clarified that the majority of economic agents from the Transnistrian region were certainly aware of the new rules for applying the new Customs Code, and from the first working day of this year (January 2), many economic agents from the Transnistrian region filed customs declarations in accordance with the new legislative requirements for import of goods, including preferential certificates of origin, which certainly indicates that they were aware of the applicability of the new Customs Code. CS representatives noted that the new Customs Code was adopted by the Parliament of Moldova on August 24, 2021, promulgated by a decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova dated September 14, 2021 and published in Monitorul Oficial on September 17, 2021, and before its entry into force - January 1, 2024, no changes were made to the legal regime of economic agents located on the territory of Moldova and not having fiscal relations with its budgetary system (from the Transnistrian region). The Customs Service noted that over the past period all Transnistrian economic agents have fully complied with the requirements of the new Customs Code, and some significant problems related to logistics have not been confirmed.
