The Government of Moldova fully supported 14 amendments of deputies to the draft Law on the State Budget for 2024, 9 - partially, and 20 - did not support.

This was announced by Finance Minister Petru Rotaru, presenting the Cabinet's conclusion on amendments to the draft law on the state budget for next year. He noted that in general, deputies presented 43 amendments providing for additional expenses in the amount of about 1 billion 470.5 million lei, of which 860.5 million lei are requests for local public authorities, 150.5 million lei - redistribution of appropriations, 20 million lei - reduction of some allocations by the amount, as well as proposals for amendments to Annex N9 to the bill. The head of the Ministry of Finance explained that some amendments providing for requests for financial resources were submitted without specifying/identifying the source of financing, which contradicts the provisions of the Constitution of Moldova, which states that no budget expenditures can be approved without identifying the source of financing. As Petru Rotaru noted, as a result, the government fully supported 14 amendments of deputies to the draft law on the state budget for 2024, 9 - partially, and 20 - did not support. They do not provide for changes in the key parameters of the state budget for 2024 (revenues, expenses, deficit), which will remain unchanged, as approved in the first reading. The Minister of Finance said that one of the amendments supported by the Cabinet provides for an increase by 250 lei in the amount of benefits for war veterans, participants in combat operations to protect the territorial integrity and independence of Moldova, and participants in the war in Afghanistan. The amendments also provide for a reduction in the allocations of the State Chancellery by 65 million lei in order to allocate 15 million lei to the Prosecutor General’s Office to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, as well as to allocate 50 million lei to increase allowances in the budgetary sector, etc. It is also envisaged to redistribute allocations within projects financed from external sources between the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Finance in the amount of 3 million 920 thousand lei. // 21.12.2023 — InfoMarket
