From January 1, 2024, the Customs Service will introduce a new information system focused on digitalization and facilitating the activities of the business environment.

The changes that will occur, including in the context of the entry into force of the new Customs Code, were discussed at a special information session held by the Customs Service. The event was attended by representatives of the Customs Service and other government institutions, the EU Delegation to Moldova, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), as well as more than 90 representatives of business and business associations - residents of FEZs, customs brokers, experts in the field of customs clearance. During the event, Customs Service specialists and UNCTAD expert Constantin Ciuta presented the main changes made to the Customs Service Information System, which will ensure efficiency and interconnection of the Moldovan customs information system with the systems of EU states. This will promote equal and fair conditions for business. Constantin Ciuta said that the information application complies with the most modern EU requirements and is even ahead of similar systems of other customs administrations, since the latest technical and functional specifications introduced in November 2023 were used in its development. Moreover, the system will include 22 customs decisions, including those that can be applied after Moldova’s accession to the EU. Among the innovations introduced from January 1 are the possibility of remote declaration of postal items, declaration of currency values, declaration of up to 999 goods in a single customs declaration (currently 99), the introduction of a new Computerized Transit System (testing at the national level will begin in April 2024), the possibility of automatic verification of export customs declarations in the context of simplification and optimization of export promotion procedures in Moldova.// 20.12.2023 — InfoMarket
