
In January-October 2023, the Customs Service did not fulfill the revenue plan for this period by almost a quarter of the approved amount.
As the press service of the department reported, the income administered by the Customs Service for 10 months of 2023 amounted to 28.5 billion lei (77.9% of the plan for this period). At the same time, compared to the same period in 2022, revenues increased by almost 1 billion lei (+3.6%). Over the reporting period, for 5 months customs revenues were higher compared to the corresponding periods in 2022 (from +0.6% to +41.5%) and for the same number of months a negative trend was observed (from -2.4% to -12%). More than 67% of customs revenues came from VAT, followed by excise taxes (almost 25%), customs duties (5.7%), and fees for customs procedures (2.2%). The VAT collected from economic agents on imported goods brought the budget 19.1 billion lei, decreasing by 2.5% compared to 10 months of 2022. The amount of excise duties on imported goods amounted to 7.1 billion lei, which is 23.7% more than in the same period last year. About 42% of excise revenues from imports came from petroleum products - 2.97 billion lei (+14.8%), 31.8% - tobacco products - 2.25 billion lei (+27.6%), 19.7% - vehicles - 1.39 billion lei (+41.4%), 2.9% - liquefied gas - 203.5 million lei (+12.2%), 1.8% - liqueurs, vodka, divins - 128.3 million lei (+32%), 1.1% - beer – 81 million lei (+16.3%), 0.05% - wine – 3.25 million lei (+68.7%), 0.8% - other goods – 58.4 million lei (+26%). Herewith, customs duties brought 1.6 billion lei to the state treasury, which is 7.1% higher than the same indicators in 2022, and fees for customs procedures - 625 million lei (+1.3%).
