Moldova will implement a new IMF program worth $169 million, which will help carry out the "green transition" and to adapt to climate changes.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced this at the beginning of a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, thanking the energy and environment ministers for helping to obtain the approval of the International Monetary Fund for the implementation of this new program in Moldova. "We will have a new mechanism, a new financing instrument that will help us make the green transition and adapt better and more efficiently to climate change. This new program with concessional financing will last for 22 months," Dorin Recean said. The head of the IMF Mission Clara Mira said at the end of the Fund's experts' work in Moldova from September 25 to October 16 that the IMF Mission supports the Moldovan authorities' request for a program to be backed by the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). The 22-month RSF program, with financing of about $169 million, is expected to support the implementation of the authorities' ambitious reform program to address climate change. The RSF program will focus on improving the legal, institutional and financial environment to accelerate climate action (including climate smart infrastructure and energy sector policies) and to mobilize green finance. // 18.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
