
The Tax Code of Moldova will be modernized, a new Tax Code should be developed by 2027.
This was announced by the Ministry of Finance, which presented the draft Concept for modernizing the Tax Code for public consultation. According to the document, the new Tax Code should be developed by 2027. It is planned that it will include 6 Books containing sections and chapters. In order to inform interested parties and get to know their views, the Ministry of Finance organized a public consultation on the concept. During the session, the reasons for the need to modernize it, the new structure of the code, intended goals, etc. were discussed. State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Olga Golban said that we are in a large-scale process of revising tax legislation; in this regard, a process of public consultations on the Concept for modernizing the Tax Code has been launched. “Through this document, we want to inform the authorities, the business environment and development partners about the medium-term goals of the Ministry of Finance, in part aimed at improving the budget regulation framework. In this regard, we propose to adapt the new Tax Code to the highest standards and requirements that correspond to current economic processes, and to ensure the transfer of European directives as a candidate country for accession to the EU,” she noted. According to the concept, the new Tax Code should be developed by representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Service, business and the academic environment. The Advisory Council under the Ministry of Finance in the tax and customs sphere will confirm the achieved results, set goals and other strategic objectives in this direction.
