
France will allocate Moldova additional financial assistance of 300 million euros for social projects and support of the European integration process.
This was announced by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna at the 4th meeting of the Moldova Support Platform held in Chisinau. She said that these funds will be used to finance social support projects, projects within the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund). Catherine Colonna emphasized that, within the long-term assistance, France will help Moldova implement an infrastructure development strategy, strengthen the energy sector, carry out structural reforms in order to get closer to the EU. She said that, through the French Development Agency, assistance will be provided to modernize Moldova's energy sector, to connect it to the European energy network and to implement the EU standards. 40 million euros will be allocated for this purpose. France will also continue backing projects on the energy efficiency of public buildings, management of natural resources, implementation of the Program for the expansion and restoration of forests, as well as for the fight against climate change. The French Foreign Minister said that the investments will total 200 million euros in the next 3 years, and her country is happy to continue backing Moldova in its efforts to improve the situation in the country and to follow the course of European integration. Catherine Colonna said that Moldova has faced and is facing many challenges, but it has already made significant progresses with the support of the development partners.
