Moldova and the EU launched the Agri-Food Partnership Platform.

An event dedicated to the launch of the Agri-Food Partnership Platform is being held in Chisinau on October 6-7, the purpose of which is to stimulate cooperation and accelerate reforms in the agri-food sector of our country. The event is supported by the European Union, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Program (WFP). It is attended by representatives of ministries and departments, ambassadors, international organizations, business associations, as well as representatives of 11 EU member countries (Austria, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, the Netherlands). During the launch of the platform, the assistance that Moldova can receive in the process of implementing community standards and promoting sustainable development of the agri-food sector was discussed. Prime Minister Dorin Recean emphasized the need to develop a competitive agricultural sector, emphasizing the importance of developing appropriate policies to support farmers. “We must direct taxpayer funds to highly productive agriculture and invest more in modern technologies,” Dorin Recean said at a meeting with heads of delegations. He stressed that agriculture is a profitable business and the role of the government is to set the right policies to develop market institutions that support farmers, invest in food production, processing, distribution and consumption, ensuring the entire value chain. At the same time, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said that agricultural activity in Moldova is influenced by factors such as drought, the consequences of war, rising resource costs, the collapse of prices in the Black Sea basin, changes in logistics routes, etc. . “The presence of European ministers at today's conference is a sign that we are not alone and that we have colleagues whose ideas, advice and best practices we can use to cope with this difficult situation,” said Vladimir Bolea. Representatives of the members of the Agri-Food Partnership Platform confirmed their commitment to continue supporting Moldova in the reform process in the process of its European integration. This support was confirmed by the signing of a joint declaration, which will serve as a fundamental basis for the further creation of the Mentoring Group and the development of cooperation programs for the subsequent modernization and increase in the competitiveness of the agri-food industry. Herewith, the event discusses sectoral problems and prospects for the agricultural and food sectors of Moldova, as well as various aspects of business activity.// 06.10.2023 — InfoMarket
