Prerequisites for reducing the gas tariff in Moldova will appear in the fall, if the purchase price for gas remains at the current level - Victor Parlicov.
The head of the Ministry of Energy stated this, noting that Moldova now buys gas at an average price of $400 per 1,000 cubic meters. According to him, if it is possible to buy another 400 million cubic meters of gas to the existing 400 million cubic meters at this price, it will be possible to reduce the gas average price to $500 per 1,000 cubic meters, which would make it possible to revise the tariffs. "I don't want to promise this, because it doesn't depend on us alone. There are also costs of transportation, pumping, storage, etc. We have gotten the best purchase prices. Taking into account other costs, we managed to get a price of $400 per 1,000 cubic meters," said Victor Parlicov. According to him, at the same time, Moldova still has volumes of gas purchased last year at inflated prices, which keeps the tariff at 18 lei. At the same time, the Energy Minister avoided announcing the exact figure of a possible reduced tariff for natural gas during the cold season, emphasizing that the tariffs are under the responsibility of ANRE. "We have some estimates of the tariff, but that is under the purview of ANRE and they have to present the figures. We are doing everything we can to reduce tariffs, both we, Energocom, and those who are directly involved in gas procurement, optimizing the routes, optimizing the method of delivery. Everyone is working on it, so that we have this reserve to reduce tariffs in the cold season," emphasized the Energy Minister. He assured that the authorities will provide citizens with compensation to pay for the energy resources this year to help them cope with the burden of bills, but the amount of compensation will be lower compared to last year. This is due to the fact that in the new heating season the situation will be easier than in the past from all points of view, given the lower prices for energy resources and the availability of well-tried support mechanisms. // 16.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
