Germany announced additional financial support for Moldova in the amount of 45 million euros for the current and next year.
This was reported by the German Embassy in our country, noting that this was announced during the meeting that the delegations of the governments of Moldova and Germany held on July 3 in Chisinau to discuss cooperation for future development. The German delegation was headed by Niels Annen, parliamentary state secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, while the Moldovan delegation was headed by state secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Ion Gumene. During the talks, German officials assured of their support in improving the economic prospects of Moldovan citizens and in implementing reforms for the country's accession to the EU. The parties also agreed on cooperation priorities, which include investment promotion, energy, local development and good governance. As noted, today Germany announced during the negotiations about additional support in the amount of 45 million euros for the current and next year. The key areas of this additional assistance will be public administration and public financial management reforms, which are important priorities at the start of Moldova's accession negotiations with the EU, on improving access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as on opportunities for the professional integration of young people, especially women. The governments of the two countries also pledged to make joint efforts to improve the energy security of Moldova by ensuring an increase in the share of renewable energy. The head of the German delegation said that Moldova is still feeling the consequences of the war in Ukraine. “Moldova has shown that it can integrate refugees and overcome the energy crisis. Now it is important to implement the reforms that are a condition for the start of negotiations on accession to the EU, especially in the field of public administration and the fight against corruption. In addition, businesses need secure investment conditions, and young people need livelihoods to build their future at home. In these efforts, Moldova can count on Germany's help,” Niels Annen stressed. In turn, the head of the Moldovan delegation said that Germany is one of the main partners and a reliable supporter of Moldova, and the authorities of our country greatly appreciate the flexibility and openness of Germany. “Active cooperation based on respect, support and communication will bring our bilateral relations to a high level and bring effective results for both sides, and the negotiations launched today are a very suitable platform for strengthening development cooperation. I am convinced that today's negotiations and proposals from both sides will contribute to deepening bilateral cooperation, strengthening interaction mechanisms and identifying major investment projects of mutual interest,” said Ion Gumene. According to the German Embassy in Moldova, in 2023 the Moldovan-German cooperation turns 30 years old. The total amount of assistance allocated by Germany to Moldova in 1993-2022 amounted to 281.9 million euros.// 03.06.2023 — InfoMarket.
