The EU will provide Moldova with additional macro-financial assistance of 145 million euros, including 45 million euros in the form of a grant.

This is provided for by a resolution approved by the government on the start of negotiations and the signing of an addendum to the agreement on a credit line between Moldova, the EU and the National Bank of Moldova signed on June 22, 2022 in Brussels. An addition to the agreement was required due to the fact that on May 30, 2023, the European Parliament and the European Council amended their decision on the amount of macro-financial support for Moldova, increasing its amount by 145 million euros. Of the additional assistance of up to 145 million euros, 45 million euros will be provided on a grant basis, and 100 million euros in the form of loans on preferential financing terms. The loan amount will be paid in two equal installments. However, the payment will depend on progress made in implementing the terms of the Addendum to the mentioned agreement and reforms in the field of energy, ensuring the rule of law, improving the business climate and reforming the labor market. The reforms will be implemented according to the policy matrix, which provides for 13 actions, of which 7 - for the provision of the first part of the loan and 6 - for the second tranche. As a reminder, EU macro-financial assistance is allocated to support economic stabilization and the structural reform program in Moldova, complementing the resources provided under the IMF financial agreement. Once the additional financing is approved, the total macro-financial assistance will double to €295 million.// 28.06.2023 — InfoMarket
