EBRD will support transformations for modernization of Moldova.
Matteo Patrone, EBRD Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Caucasus said this at a meeting with Finance Minister Veronica Sireteanu, which was also attended by Angela Sax, EBRD Country Manager. The parties discussed the current situation of the projects financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and new aspects of cooperation. They also discussed infrastructure, energy and transport projects under implementation as well as new funding opportunities. The head of the Ministry of Finance spoke about the ministry's main priorities. In this context, Matteo Patrone reiterated the EBRD's support for the necessary transformations in Moldova's modernization process. It was emphasized that the authorities' priorities in cooperation with the financial institution remain focused on energy security, promotion of a sustainable economy, development of a competitive and inclusive private sector, more sustainable financial infrastructure and improved governance to support communications and trade. As InfoMarket agency earlier reported, EBRD is the largest institutional investor in Moldova. So far EBRD has invested over 2 billion euros in 159 projects in Moldova in strategic areas: infrastructure, financial institutions, industry, trade, agribusiness etc. At present, the EBRD has 58 active projects in Moldova in financial-banking, infrastructure, energy and agriculture. // 24.03.2023 - InfoMarket.
