The government approved the Food Security Strategy of Moldova for 2023-2030.

This is a long-term policy document and covers the government's priorities for ensuring the country's food security, developing sustainable food systems and managing risks in this area. The main objectives of the strategy are: improved food security management and more effective management of potential crises; facilitation of international trade, development of reliable domestic markets; improving the productivity of the agri-food industry; ensuring access of vulnerable groups to food. For each of the goals, priority areas are reflected. Thus, it is planned to create an interministerial working group on food security, to ensure cooperation with the countries of the region and, in particular, with Romania and Ukraine, on food security issues; simplify the cross-border movement of goods, develop customs and transport infrastructure; simplify access to fertilizers; continue to develop market infrastructure for micro and small enterprises - agri-food markets and fairs, improve food logistics; develop mechanisms for the use of unused agricultural land; optimize the use of natural resources; develop a national nutrition program; promote the reduction of food waste and losses, etc. The implementation of the strategy will provide the population with a sufficient amount of food, reduce poverty, ensure rational and responsible consumption, etc. Funding for the measures envisaged in the framework of the strategy will be provided from the budgetary funds, as well as from the resources of external donors. // 09.11.2022 — InfoMarket
